Vertical Farming

Vertical Farming

“Vertical farms” or “vegetable flats” are on the rise. Vertical farms are particularly sustainable, because fresh vegetables can be grown locally with few additives (water, fertilizer, energy) and without a heavy environmental impact. OnePlanet supports these cultivation systems-of-the-future with its knowledge of sensor development and sensor and data integration.

OnePlanet develops, validates and integrates sensors that can measure the functioning of individual plants. Based on the combined cultivation data that results from this, she develops calculation models that predict the yield of the crop, such as: the best moment of harvest or the size, color, taste and shelf life of the product. In the long term, OnePlanet aims to deliver a “digital twin” for specific crops and their cultivation system. So that the predictions and simulations become even more accurate and to contribute to the future of sustainable and autonomous cultivation (robotization).

“What if…. we can export Dutch knowledge by offering fully autonomous vertical farm systems to growers abroad? ”
